"We are still evaluating our immediate options, but we have every intention of continuing to pursue our claims against Mr. Moyes for blatant breaches of his contractual obligations to the League," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun on Wednesday. The league filed suit against Moyes in 2010, claiming many instances of breach of agreements and fiduciary duty. Moyes filed the franchise for bankruptcy in 2009 and the league ran the Coyotes for four years before selling it in August to new owners Anthony LeBlanc and George Gosbee for $170 million. The NHL has tried to recover $145.9 million from Moyes, which includes $6.5 million in unpaid salary for former head coach Wayne Gretzky. On Friday, Judge Redfield T. Baum ruled that Moyes isnt responsible for covering the teams operational losses or for Gretzkys salary. Baum did not throw out the claims that the NHL is seeking on attorneys fees and money that the league paid to unsecured creditors, citing the need for more information.
